IHK-EnergyScouts 2024

Experiencing Energy Efficiency: Apprenticeship Workshop on Sustainable Business Practices at the IHK Braunschweig

From October 15 to 17, 2024, our trainees, Francesco Stagliano and Finn Jasper Hennings, had the opportunity to participate in an intensive workshop hosted by the IHK Braunschweig. Alongside other participants, they gained in-depth insights into energy efficiency, the use of measuring equipment, and corporate mobility management in the IHK’s congress hall.

The workshop began with a foundational module on energy efficiency. Here, participants learned the importance of mindful energy use to reduce operating costs and lower CO₂ emissions. They explored how energy consumption can be sustainably reduced through measures like optimized lighting and standby reduction. Practical exercises and real-world examples helped them to apply what they had learned directly.

The second module focused on the use of measuring equipment for energy data collection. Our trainees were introduced to devices such as electricity and heat meters, enabling them to capture energy data precisely and identify optimization potential. This hands-on training gave them a deep understanding of the importance of structured data collection and analysis in energy management.

The final in-depth module covered corporate mobility management. In this module, our trainees learned how companies can make their mobility practices more sustainable, from promoting carpooling and public transportation to optimizing the company’s fleet. Concepts like remote work options and the promotion of bicycles and e-bikes highlighted how mobility management can not only reduce environmental impact but also contribute to employee satisfaction.

DE-VAU-GE Gesundkostwerk Deutschland GmbH has already implemented various measures to improve energy efficiency, including e-bike leasing, modern compressor technology for compressed air generation, switching to LED lighting, raising employee awareness through various teachings and providing two charging station for electric cars.

After the workshop, DE-VAU-GE hopes to identify and implement further innovative energy and mobility solutions to actively shape a sustainable corporate future.

Many thanks to the IHK Braunschweig for organizing and running this inspiring event.
